John took my son, Sam’s, school photos for 10 years, while Sam was a student at Children’s House Montessori School, Atascadero. I was never disappointed. John took such great care and attention to detail, every single year. I am so happy to have these photo memories.

John Alden of JA Photography has been the school photographer for Children's Cottage Preschool & Infant Center in Napa for the last 20 years. He has a natural gift with the children and constantly amazes with the gorgeous portraits he creates. He interacts so well with the kids that he can get a smile from even the most difficult of children, producing beautiful and unique pieces of art to be admired for a lifetime. Some of our families are so happy with their pictures that they hire John to come to their homes to do a treasured personal family portrait. We get offers from different corporations to do mass produced "cookie cutter" pictures. We turn them down because we want the same quality in school portraits that we want from our teachers..... Nothing but the best!

They lost my photos from the Southwestern Regional Skate Championships. It was for a special event and we can't go back to reshoot. Last year the quality sucked, the photos took 4 months to arrive, but I thought I'd give them a second chance. Never again. If you want a professional photographer for your event hire someone else. Skaters, please urge the event planners to hire a different photographer next year.

We are very unhappy with the customer service we have received from John Alden. We ordered 2 photo packages from him at the Southwest Regionals skating competition back in June and we still have not received one of the photo packages that we paid for. When I first emailed him almost 2 months ago, he said he would get the photos to us quickly. I had to email him again 3 weeks after that because we still hadn't received the photos and ask him again what was going on.
Again we were told this would be resolved quickly. Another 2 weeks went by and still no photos.
During this time, he never contacted me to update me on the photos. IF he lost the photos, they were deleted or something happened, he needs to let me know and not drag this out. Right now he has my money and I do not have the photos I paid for. My emails to him in the beginning were very patient and I fully believed that he would resolve this issue and we would get our photos. My last email to him I simply told him that I now want my photos or my money back. He has not responded to that email, and its been almost a week. He is also not answering his phone. At this point we are very unhappy customers. It's too bad his customer service skills are so poor. My daughter's grandparents, aunts and uncles wanted to order extra photos from him, but they see how terrible his customer service is and are no longer interested in becoming customers of his. We will post an update to this review when and if there is an update.

UPDATE 1-17-14 Finally got a full refund from our order 7 months later after reporting them to the BBB. Still very unhappy, but at least we got our money back.
